"What is birdhouse home recordings?"

a microlabel for music. we put out stuff when we feel inclined mostly, but shipping stuff is a lot of work so maybe not a lot

"Are you accepting demos?"

nah

"How do I get on then?"

we listen to a lot of stuff every day. chances are, we might find you. if we like your music we'll reach out!

with how the label operates and how early into its life it is, it isn't realistic to get a bunch of people on here quite yet.

give it some time before you see ANY new faces when the physicals start selling

"Why so much video game music out at the start?"

it's really hard to put out video game music if you're small and don't do it yourself so I made it easier on everyone and did that

"Some of the music you put out isn't on streaming services like Spotify! Why is that?

us at birdhouse, and a lot of our artists too, don't want spotify's money! we barely get anything from it anyways. if you really want to help a small artist make a living, buy merch and digital! we get much more kickback from it, and you actually get to keep the music without worrying about licensing expiration or servers going down or whatever! it's really a win win for everyone! it may cost more than a subscription service, but at least you help us buy food!

and! not to forget with spotify specifically, they've been funding weapons of war, genocide, and mass surveillance & destruction with the all money they get from us that they choose not to pay for all the work we do. hell, you need to crack 1000 streams each month to get paid! for some folk, that's just not a number they're going to reach and without us there is no spotify! so at minimum they are exploiting small artists. worse, they allow generative ai and impersonation to run rampant on their platform; allow bigoted alt-right conspiracies on their platform as a main selling point (roe jogan, world's most popular thumb); and now they help ice funding and recruitment! if you have the chance, cancel your spotify subs, and buy physical and digital.

"Why are all your runs so limited?"

we aren't meant to be a "home" label for artists with major releases. actually, it's kinda bad for us if we try to be. don't expect all releases to be exclusive to us, just the editions.

physicals are pricey to make and we mostly make the fancy ones. not to mention, shipping for 100 people with just one person handling it is hard enough. worth it mind you, but hard.

we're no asian man records mike with the pure will to get those records out the door no matter what (major love to him and amr!), and I'd like to keep my back intact for as long as it will last since I play shows as an artist too

"My copy got damaged in the mail!!!"

email us with proof and we'll get you a refund asap! if we have spares, expect a replacement copy. and if the run goes super shit with mailers we might do a repress too idk

"Do you ship outside the US?"

we're gonna try! if it doesn't go well due to pricing/shipping costs though then we'll keep it to us and canada for the foreseeable future sadly. we're too small to warrent a shipping company to work on our behalf! but again, don't worry! if we put something out, chances are it'll be out on another label eventually too!

One last question! All of that seems neat, but shouldn't you be a bit more professional? The Roe Jogen bit was kind of a bit out of place!

not everything should be so serious! especailly in such a scary world, lighthearted fun should be welcome! granted, there's a time and place, but being a bit silly on your faq never hurt a soul! also this is my website and label idk lol I'll put 2010 cat memes here if i want

back?
